Infineon announced on May 8 that it has received the final approval from the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs for its new factory in Dresden. Infineon is expanding the factory to meet customers' demands for renewable energy, efficient data centers and electric vehicles. Infineon will invest 5 billion euros to create up to 1,000 new jobs. In addition, Infineon has also invested in Dresden by participating in the joint venture European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (ESMC).
Infineon's new factory not only helps strengthen the supply chain of the European microelectronics industry, but also further consolidates Dresden and Saxony as the largest semiconductor centers in Europe. At present, the construction of this factory is proceeding as planned. The building shell is nearly completed and production is scheduled to start in 2026.
