TLD7002-16ES is a 16-channel automotive LED constant current source driver chip, featuring comprehensive protection and diagnostic functions, and supporting UART OVRE CAN with a communication rate of up to 2M. It is designed to control leds with a current of up to 76.5mA as linear current sinks (LCS). The output stage of the parallel power supply achieves a higher load current. Each independent power output stage is configured with a 6-bit current setting value stored in the OTP, and 16 independent PWM configurations can be set. High-speed lighting interfaces are used for OTP programming, configuration, control and diagnostic feedback of equipment. This chip can directly drive multi-pixel leds and eliminate the need for an additional MCU on the light board. In addition, the TLD7002-16ES can be used as a gateway to control other external LED drivers, such as linear constant current sources (Infineon LITIX™ Basic+ family) or DC/DC converters (LITIX™ Power). Without adding additional MCUS, the existing scheme CAN be continued, or even the number of UART OVER CAN linear LED driver chips can be reduced to support a higher output current of the LED system. The cost of the LED system can be effectively optimized through the above methods.
The TLD7002-16ES is an intelligent 16-channel LED driver with an HSLI interface (CAN OVER UART).
In the reference design of Infineon TLD7002-16ES, this LED system-on-chip is used as a gateway to control multiple external LED drivers, including linear current sources (LITIX™ Basic+ family) or DC/DC converters (LITIX™ Power family).
The following refers to these LED drivers that are not integrated on the TLD7002-16ES as external LED drivers. These external drivers are responsible for driving the leds connected to the external LED drivers, while the direct load refers to the leds directly driven by the TLD7002-16ES output.
The gateway method of the LED system has the following advantages:
Bring the UART over CAN interface to the existing LED driver
Remove the microcontroller from the LED driver unit
· Increase the current capacity (number of channels and maximum current) of TLD7002-16ES
Improve thermal management by distributing heat across multiple LED drivers
